CUSTOMIZED REPORT OF FUND SOURCES
A critical step for any organization beginning to seek funding is to know what types of funding opportunities are available to them. The report developed by our staff will provide this information and develop a prioritized list of funding sources specific to your organization.
This report will let your organization know how to best focus your efforts. We review thousands of fund sources to find those that closely match the mission of you organization. We closely follow government and private grant availability by subscribing to multiple databases, newsletters, magazines, list-serves, and other guides, allowing us access to every known fund source in the United States. We will perform a thorough search identifying all types of foundations, corporations, government, and other sources that fund programs that are of interest to your organization and in your geographical area.
We search:
All U.S. Foundations: over 78,000 foundations, corporate givers, and grant making public charities
An index of over 285,000 trustees, officers, and donors
In-depth program descriptions and application guidelines for select U.S. funders

100’s of Federal programs distributed through states
A comprehensive search of the Catalog of Federal and Domestic Assistance (CFDA)
A comprehensive search of the Federal Register of funding programs
A comprehensive search of State and Local Government grants
Local foundations and endowments
MRodgers - FCS uses the latest in technology and a sophisticated network of resources to develop a customized list of prospective funding sources. The reports are extensive and include a priority level; names, addresses, and contact information; application procedures; IRS filings; and grant amounts for groups and individuals who have previously received funding.
RESEARCHED FUND SOURCE REPORT
Often, clients ask us about foundations, grants, or other funders that they may have been told about. We can research these sources and tell you everything there is to know about the funding source. This will include all contact information, board members, IRS filings, past grant recipients, application procedures and documents, and anything else you need to know. We will also make recommendation as to whether this funding source is a good fit for your organization.
INQUIRY LETTERS
Many funders permit grant applications by invitation only while requiring potential grant recipients to present preliminary requests in the form of inquiry letters in order to be invited to submit a Full Proposal.Inquiry letters are designed to convince the funder to consider your request. They provide you the opportunity to give the funder a snapshot of your proposed project or program.
We will establish a solid connection between your proposal's goals and the funder's priorities, while focusing on detail and clarity, and conveying the impact your proposal will make on the need or issue you are addressing.
We'll assure your inquiry letter condenses all of the key information into your organization overview and purpose. We will clearly state the reason for your funding request as well as the description of the need or issues including statistics, other funders, and a request for a funding application.
Typical inquiry letters are usually a maximum of two to three pages
NONPROFIT PREPARATION
501 c 3, otherwise known as nonprofit status, is essential for small to mid-sized organizations. The benefits to such groups, from block clubs to civic, educational, charitable, and others are tremendous.
If your organization seeks private or public funding for projects and programs, or needs in-kind or cash donations to operate effectively, you'll need this vital tool.
While the average wait time for nonprofit application approval is anywhere from three months to one year, M Rodgers FCS has been successful in lowering turn-time to as little as six weeks for some of our clients.
RESEARCH
MRodgers - FCS is prepared to conduct a comprehensive funding search to identify federal, state, foundation and corporate funding sources for your project. This process usually takes 30 days and delivers a comprehensive report containing funding sources, contact information and guidelines to your organization for review and further planning.
PROPOSALS
MRodgers - FCS offers full service grant writing - which includes complete proposal development, submission, and follow-up. We require that you share the required program information and documentation, then you can let us take care of the rest.
We will provide writing for all types of grant proposals, including federal, state, county, city, private foundations, faith-based funders, denominational funding, corporate giving programs, and others.
We will obtain copies of the Request For Proposal (RFP), obtain all budget and other required forms, complete the proposal, submit the proposal according to specifications, and follow up on proposals after submission. Approximately 50% of proposals submitted are never read because they fail a technical review of the application. We conduct our own technical review of every proposal so every proposal has the chance to be funded.
All proposals go through a three level editorial review and a minimum of five drafts before the final draft is submitted. Proposals are reviewed for grammar, flow and language usage; for specific content related to the program, project, or organization; and to ensure that it is understandable and does not use excessive jargon or industry specific terminology.
We will use the Report of Fund Sources or a list of funding sources supplied by your organization to plan a strategy of which applications should be submitted and in what order. We will tailor each proposal to the specific funder. This includes addressing the funders priorities, budget restrictions, interests, and using language and terminology they will find familiar.
We will also conduct the extensive pre-submission work that is required when applying to private funders. This may include writing letters of inquiry, calling program managers, researching foundation donors and board members, reviewing IRS 990 filings, and reviewing applicants funded in the past.
